Paving the Way by Sharing the Load
2023-2024

Since 1854, Congregation Beth Israel has been a sacred community for the lives of its congregants. Each year, in order to provide for the special services, programs and events, the Temple relies on the financial support of its member families. Your family’s annual commitment provides only 80% of the Temple’s operating budget. Additional funding is needed to offset expenses. For the 2023-2024 fiscal year, the Temple’s total operating budget is $5.2 million.

We need your help!

Each family is asked to choose the program or expense that feels important to their family.Your gift will help close the gap in the Beth Israel budget.

Congregation Beth Israel Program Support Opportunities

• Operational 
  • Campus Security - Help Support $200,000 Annual Cost.   
    • Safety and security first
  • Live-streaming of Shabbat and Other Services - Help Support $100,000 Annual Cost.
    • Make the at-home experience as joyful as in-person.
  • Campus Beautification - Help Support $40,000 Annual Cost.
    • Maintain landscaping, exterior building, parking lots, and exterior lighting.
  • Cemetery Upkeep and Beautification- Help Support $150,000 Annual Cost.
    • Respect and maintain our departed loved ones resting place.
  • Critical Infrastructure - Help Support $350,000 Annual Cost.  
    • Electricity, HVAC, cybersecurity, and communication systems.
  • Temple Unrestricted - These funds are available for the organization to use at its discretion, typically to support its general operations,
    cover day-to-day expenses, invest in new initiatives, or address unforeseen needs.
     
• Youth/Teens/Young Adults
  • Family Shabbat and Tot Shabbat- Help Support $8,000 Annual Cost.  
    • Shabbat fun and food for the whole family.
  • Jeremy Tucker Fund for Jewish Special Education - Help Support $8,500 Annual Cost.  
    • Our unique Aliyah program allows children with special needs to stay connected and involved with Jewish education, and ultimately, to become Bar, Bat, or B’rit Mitzvah themselves.
  • MBJLC Scholarships- Help Support $1,000 Annual Cost per child.   
    • Provide a Jewish education for children without the barrier of cost.
  • MBJLC Unrestricted – 
    • Supports our Miriam Browning Jewish Learning Center (MBJLC) religious school programming including special holiday events, family educational programs, field trips, and opportunities to express gratitude to our MBJLC Faculty.
• Holiday Programs
  • Congregational Chanukah Service, Purim Programming, Sukkot Programming, Yom Kippur Break-Fast Passover Seder, High Holy Days Music. - Help Support $42,000 Annual Cost. 
• Member and Community Engagement
  • BINGE Group Programming - Help Support $5,000 Annual Cost.  
    • Have you heard of BINGE (Beth Israel New Group Engagement) yet? Make a friend or learn something new - Cocktails & Conversations, Jewish Meditation, Day Trips, Broadway shows, Pickleball, Torah 101, and more!
  • Oneg Shabbat - Help Support $15,000 Annual Cost.
